My thought process upon hearing the BDO lineup announcement:

1) Blur! Blur! Ever since their reunion in 2008, I’ve been desperately hoping for these guys to come to our shores. Their name alone has me buying a ticket.

2) The Herald Sun “leak” that wasn’t …actually was! Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam and Snoop Dogg/Lion all confirmed. While I’ve never been a fan of the latter, Arcade Fire is an excellent band whose afternoon set at BDO forever ago was amazing. Pearl Jam, meanwhile, aren’t really my thing nowadays, but my first real album purchase was their Yield, so I’d still be keen to see them.

3) The rest of the lineup is uh… well, as disappointing as you’d expect with this many big acts. Going for the massive headliners tends to lead to sacrifices elsewhere, and that’s the case here. Even the bands I want to see (Grouplove, DZ Deathrays, Toro Y Moi) aren’t exactly big drawcards, though I imagine people will be excited about Major Lazer and The Lumineers. Also, Flume is clearly not turning down any requests to play music festivals – this is, what, his sixth this year?

Summary: Buying a ticket but wish there was more depth.
